Trolls beat Trojans to move on to CCAC Championships

The Trinity women's volleyball team, who is currently seeded No. 1 in the CCAC Championships, played the No. 4 team in the Trinity International Trojans in the semifinal round tonight to see who would go on to the CCAC Championship game on Saturday.

Even though the Trojans put up a fight during the first 10 points of each set, the Trolls swept Trinity International in three, winning the sets 25-20, 25-19 and 25-15.

There was only one Troll to finish with double-digit kills tonight, and that was sophomore Sarah Kiwan. She had 10 kills on the night while also grabbing six digs and three blocks.

In this match, Trinity Christian found much success in the backrow. Junior Brianna Figueroa led the team in digs with 24 while senior Dani Van Laten and junior Anna Maatman each finished with 15 and 16 digs respectively. Junior Britta Heggeland also contributed five blocks to the defense.

The Trolls will now host the CCAC Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the DeVos Gymnasium. Indiana South Bend defeated Olivet Nazarene in the other semifinal match tonight, which means those two teams will face off in the finals.
