Van Laten records 4,000th career assist in win over Cougars

The Trinity women's volleyball team traveled to Saint Xavier today to face the Cougars in the Trolls' final road match of the season. Although Saint Xavier put up a fight, Trinity was able to come out on top, winning three sets to two.

The first set is where the Trolls were able to find the first bit of success during the day, securing the win 25-18. During the second set, however, the Trolls were not able to come back from the Cougars' early lead, losing 22-25 and evening out the match.

As the third set concluded, the Trolls were able to take the 2-1 lead as they won the set 25-17. But it wasn't long until the Cougars made a comeback as the Trolls lost the fourth set 20-25.

It all came down to the fifth set for these two teams as the Trolls and Cougars went at it. Both teams fought throughout the final set, but it was Trinity who was able to pull away as they won 15-12.

Sophomore Sarah Kiwan and senior Ana Lambros both finished with double-digit kills on the night. Kiwan had 13 kills and six digs while Lambros secured 12 kills and 15 digs.

Senior Dani Van Laten also grabbed 39 assists on the day, which helped her secure her 4,000th career assist as a Troll. She also had 13 digs.

Trinity will be back in action again on Tuesday, Nov. 5 as the Roosevelt University Lakers come to Palos Heights for a CCAC matchup.
