The Trinity women's volleyball team hit the road, heading to La Crosse, Wisconsin to play in the first match of the Viterbo Holiday Inn Preseason Tournament. Although the team put up a fight, the V-Hawks came out on top.
After losing the first two sets 18-25 and 20-25, the Trolls tried to make a comeback. In the third set, they were able to, winning 25-16. But it wasn't enough to secure the match.
In the fourth set, the Trolls started with the lead, but were unable to hold it. About half way through the match, Trinity found themselves in a hole and were unable to dig themselves out. They lost the fourth set 20-25, and lost the match 3-1.
For the Trolls, Sarah Kiwan led the offensive effort. She finished the match with a double-double, recording 16 kills and 15 digs while adding five blocks to the stat sheet.
Brianna Figueroa led the backrow defense for Trinity, finishing the match with 25 digs. When it came to the front row defense, it was Mady Zula who finished with the most blocks. She ended the night with six blocks, while also recording six kills for the night.
Tomorrow, the Trolls will continue playing in the tournament, facing Mayville State at 10 a.m. and St. Francis (Ind.) at 2 p.m.
