The Trinity women's soccer team traveled to the Governors State Jaguars last night in Chicago Heights, Illinois to play in a CCAC match. The Trolls had a dominate performance in the game, winning 8-0.
In the first half, the Trolls were able to score five goals. The first came from sophomore Selah Hopkins, who registered the unassisted goal in the 22nd minute. From there, Trinity could not stop scoring.
Along with that goal, senior Shaelyn Postmus, junior Jadyn Wilson and senior Nicole Faulkner were able to get goals of their own in the first half. Hopkins was also able to register another, giving the Trolls a 5-0 lead after 45 minutes.
Once the second half began, the Trolls continued to score. Sophomore Erika Perez found the back of the net along with freshman Emma Roberts, who scored the first goal of her collegiate career. Hopkins also recorded another goal, making this her second hat trick in four days.
Along with all of these players who scored, senior Taylor Miller and junior Peyton Richmond were able to record assists. Freshman Ashley Wurtz was also able to record a shutout, making it the second of her career.
The Trolls will be back in action again on Saturday as they host Roosevelt beginning at 12 p.m. Prior to kick off, Trinity will honor their six seniors, Taylor Miller, Alexa Miller, Nicole Faulkner, Shaelyn Postmus, Lindsey Dykema and Lexxy Trujillo.
