The Trinity women's basketball team played in their first CCAC game of the new year as they took on the No. 20 Olivet Nazarene Tigers. Although the Trolls took the lead very early, it ultimately ended with a loss for the Trolls.
During the first five minutes of the game, Trinity was up 13-5 on the Tigers, but after that, Olivet took over. They scored over 20 points in each quarter, even recording 37 points in the third. The Trolls were able to outshoot the Tigers 28 to 23 in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough. Trinity lost 70-113 to Olivet.
Sophomore Summer Cramer led the Trolls in scoring today, finishing with a season-high 17 points. Junior Jasmine Elliott followed close behind, recording 14 points and 11 rebounds for another double-double on her career. Senior Breanna Toppen also added 10 points while junior Abby Coates had a season-high 16 rebounds, which is the most of any player on the floor.
The Trolls will have a week off before heading to Notre Dame, Indiana to take on the Holy Cross Saints on Saturday, Jan. 11. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Eastern time.
