The Trinity men's soccer team was on a three-game losing streak following CCAC matches over the past two weeks. The team hoped to change that today against the Robert Morris Eagles, and they were able to, winning the match 2-1.
In the first half, the Trolls grabbed an early lead thanks to a goal from sophomore Manasse Mbuyi off a pass from senior Davi Simoes in the third minute of the match. The Trolls were able to keep the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
It wasn't until the second in the 55th minute that the Eagles were able to score. Ethan Emmons scored off a penalty kick, making the score 1-1. But about 25 minutes later, the Trolls were able to come back. Junior Wesley Trueblood put up a shot in the 80th minute, scoring a goal for the Trolls.
The Eagles were unable to come back. The Trolls beat the Eagles 2-1.
Along with Mbuyi and Simoes, junior Justin Taylor was able to put a shot on goal. On defense for the Trolls, junior Mathis Muller made four saves while the defensive line led by juniors Andrew Heun and Brevin DeBoer helped keep the ball away from the Trolls' goal.
Trinity will be back in action again on Tuesday, Oct. 22, as they head to Governors State for an 8 p.m. kickoff.
