The Trinity men's soccer team faced a tough Cardinal Stritch team today following a loss to Trinity International on Wednesday. Although both teams gave a strong defensive effort, it was the Wolves who came out on top.
In the first half, Cardinal Stritch was able to record a goal early. Antonio De Castro scored a goal off an assist from Camil Assam Ruiz in the 13th minute, giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead.
The score remained the same through most of the match until the 74th minute, when Assam Ruiz scored a goal of his own, making the score 2-0 in favor of the Wolves.
Although the Trolls played with a strong defense throughout most of the match, they weren't able to hold off the Wolves and prevent them from putting pressure on goalkeeper Mathis Muller. He made five saves throughout the match, but Cardinal Stritch put up nine shots, with seven being on goal.
For the Trolls, only one person was able to get the ball close to the net. Sophomore Manasse Mbuyi was able to put up a shot for Trinity, which was the only shot during the match for the Trolls.
They will be back in action again on Tuesday as they head to Elgin, Illinois to take on the Judson University Eagles. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
