Trolls' defense secures first shutout win over Fighting Bees

The Trinity men's soccer team had a rough start to CCAC conference play, losing both conference games they played so far this season. But tonight, they were able to secure their first conference win after beating the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees.

In the first half, the Trolls were able to grab an early lead. Junior Justin Taylor and sophomore Manasse Mbuyi both scored goals to put Trinity up 2-0, with Taylor scoring in the 18th minute and Mbuyi scoring in the 37th.

That was all the Trolls needed to secure the win. The Fighting Bees were unable to find the back of the net in the second half, causing Trinity to win the match 2-0.

Along with Taylor and Mbuyi's offensive contributions, junior Mathis Muller recorded his first shutout of the season with the help of the Trolls' defense led by juniors Brevin DeBoer and Andrew Heun.

This win over the Fighting Bees boosts the Trolls' CCAC record to 1-2 and their overall record to 4-5.

The Trolls will be back in action again this Saturday beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Schaaf Athletics Complex as they take on Calumet College of St. Joseph. During this event, there will be a fundraiser to benefit the Cancer Treatment Centers of America's Breast Cancer Center in Chicago.
