The Trinity men's soccer team had a week off before facing head coach Eric Salley's alma mater Taylor University. And although the Trolls fought hard, it wasn't enough to beat the Trojans.
After heading into overtime with a tied score of 1-1, Taylor netted one more goal to make it 2-1.
Throughout the match, the two teams played hard and put pressure on each other's defense. But in the 31st minute, Josiah Wieland scored with an assist from Owen Hardy to put the Trojans up 1-0.
It wasn't until the 88th minute that the Trolls were able to net a shot, which came off a penalty kick taken by junior Justin Taylor, which caused the match to head into overtime.
But at the end, the Trolls were able to keep the lead.
The Trojans scored in the 92nd minute off a goal from Luke Holwerda and an assist from Josiah Wieland to win the game 2-1.
The Trolls will be back in action next Saturday, Sept. 21, at Schaaf Athletics Complex as they open conference play against Saint Xavier.
