The Trinity men's basketball team played their first game of 2020 today as they hosted the No. 6 Olivet Nazarene Tigers. The Trolls hung close with the nationally-ranked team, but ended with another conference loss by the end of the game.
The Trolls remained within reach of the Tigers throughout most of the game. During the first half, Trinity did not let Olivet get more than 10 points ahead. They ended the first with a score of 41-47, only sitting six points behind the Tigers. Even though the Trolls did not allow the Tigers to pull too far ahead, Trinity lost 85-95 to Olivet.
Redshirt sophomore James Pennington had the best game of his career, recording 33 points on the night. Junior TJ Lacey also finished with a season-high 20 points, while also registering a team-high four assists and three steals. Freshman Vince Overway contributed a season-high of 14 points while senior Deantre DeYoung had a team-high eight rebounds.
The Trolls will have the week off before heading to Notre Dame, Indiana to take on the Holy Cross Saints on Saturday, Jan. 11. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Eastern time.
